A hand carved and cast thick ancient style coin of a seal, a symbol for the selkie or seal person, makes the perfect ocean amulet. Water like texture and a moon below accent the seal. Three large dots of granulation accent the bottom. On an oval link cable chain with S hook clasp. Sterling silver. The pendant is oxidized and rubbed back for a dark patina in recesses. Each is unique. Handcrafted by the artist, Miche McClendon, in her Laguna Beach studio gallery. Stamped on the back with a handmade custom crescent moon signature.
The legend of selkies is from Celtic and Farose folklore. It is a creature that is a seal in the ocean who becomes human on land, by removing their seal skin. They symbolize the wild woman nature and consciousness.
