Silver Caim Protection Necklace

$95.00

A cast sculptural circle pendant represents a caim or symbolic sanctuary on a delicate cable chain necklace. Each is unique with stamped patterns of circles. The cable chain secures with an S hook clasp. Sterling silver. The pendant is oxidized and rubbed back for a dark patina in recesses, while the chain is left bright. Each is created by the artist, Miche McClendon, in her Laguna Beach studio/gallery. Stamped on the back with a handmade custom crescent moon signature.

The word “caim” comes from an old Gaelic word that means circling, encircling, protection or sanctuary and has many functions. A caim prayer is done while facing north, and slowly turning clockwise. It also refers to an ancient Celtic wedding ritual that involves guests forming a circle around the couple, saying a prayer to invoke protection.  And it is a tradition of Celtic worship, where people turn sunwise around a sacred site or person. A caim can be a protective spirit as well.

15″ chain.

Pendant 1/2″ wide.

Each piece comes ready to gift in a natural pine wood box with jute ribbon, wax seal and tag.
