This pendant is a hand carved and cast tiny silver version of the ancient bird goddess figure seen since the New Stone Age. It is a morph of the female body and a bird. On a long rollo cable chain necklace that has been drawn out to have elongated links like ancient chain. Each is unique and handcrafted by the artist, Miche McClendon, in her Laguna Beach studio/gallery. Sterling silver. Oxidized and rubbed back for a dark patina in recesses. Signed on the back with a handmade custom crescent moon stamp.
Knowledge of the bird goddess from the New Stone Age is lost, but studying the sheer art devoted to her, and their symbolism, it is believed that the Bird Goddess was a divine being who nurtured and protected the world.
